FAQs
How do I get started?
Give us a call at 402-420-5808 or fill out our contact form, and we will walk you through the next steps. Two reads help before that first meeting: 6 Areas to Brainstorm Before Meeting with Your General Contractor and 5 Things to Know Before You Remodel.
How much will my remodel cost?
It depends on the size of the project, the scope, and the finishes you pick. These are our typical ranges to help you plan:
- Kitchens: $75,000 to $150,000
- Bathrooms: $30,000 to $90,000
- Garages: $60,000 to $200,000
- Additions: $150,000 to $300,000+
- Whole-home remodels (single level): $350,000 to $750,000+
- Custom homes: $1M+
How involved do I need to be in the project / Can you help with choosing materials and finishes?
That is up to you. Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want, and we build it. Others want help, so we pull options that fit their style and budget and walk through them together. Either way, you make the final call on every selection.
What’s your design-build process like?
You work with the same team from the first meeting to the final walkthrough. We start with design and planning, then permits and material selections, then construction. Our team handles floor plans, 3D renderings, finish lookbooks, material ordering, and storing your materials until they go in. Read more about our selections process.
When can you start?
Our typical lead time is 6 to 8 months from contract signing. We use that time to finish the design, submit permits, lock in your selections, and place orders. That way your project is ready to go when construction starts.
Can I live in my home during the remodel?
It depends on the size of the project. For one bathroom, a kitchen, or a single room, most clients stay home. For a whole level, an addition, or several bathrooms at once, we usually recommend staying somewhere else for at least part of the work. On every project, we close off the work area and keep dust and disruption in the rest of the house as low as we can.
How do you communicate with clients?
Clients get their updates through Sōken, our own client portal, where you can view schedules, invoices, change orders, and daily updates. For day-to-day messages, we use a text thread that includes our team and you.
How do you handle unexpected issues or change orders?
If something unexpected comes up, or you want to change something, we tell you right away. No work outside the original scope starts without your approval. You review and sign every change order before the extra work begins, and you can see each one in Sōken.
How do I prepare my home for remodeling?
Clear your personal items out of the work area and out of the paths our crew will use to get there. For an upstairs bathroom, that means the bathroom plus the hallways and stairs. Keep pets and kids away from the work zone. If we are working in your kitchen, set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house.
What happens if the project goes over budget or schedule?
If there is any risk of going over budget or schedule, we tell you right away, and nothing changes without your approval. We plan ahead to avoid delays, but weather, shipping problems, and approved change orders can still move the timeline. We keep you posted the whole way.
Can I see examples of past projects or read reviews?
Yes. Our portfolio has photos of recent projects, and you can read what clients say in our reviews section.
