THE FOREST HOUSE

This home was a dream project brought to life after years of admiration. Though surrounded by trees in the heart of town, it offers a secluded, nature-inspired retreat. The renovation began with a full gut down to the studs, allowing for a complete transformation inside and out. One of the most unexpected challenges was discovering a beehive stretching from the main floor to the roof. Rather than removing it outright, the bees were safely rehomed by a friend, and five gallons of honey were gifted to the previous owner—a sweet and memorable twist to the project. The redesign included adding a garage, expanding the kitchen, creating a new primary suite, and remodeling the entire upstairs. Every aspect of the home was modernized, from spray foam insulation to brand-new electrical and plumbing systems. The design focused on bringing nature indoors, incorporating large windows, a French door, and a deck to enhance the connection to the surrounding trees. The result is a warm, inviting space that feels both modern and deeply tied to nature.
